Threadheads...

Summer is coming, and I'm thinking that folks are getting busy with summer outings, yard work, garage sales... and oh yeah... more yard work!

My husband (since he is the stay-at-home parent) has been busy working in the yard, and my son and I are reaping the benefits... My yard has less of the unkept look it has maintained during the winter months... I have even managed to get the grapes pruned BEFORE they really get going! And, we have a blue jay who considers our yard home, and loves to tease the cats by hanging out near the windows. It has been fun to watch the cats react to the teasing!

Anyway... on to next meetups... I have been a bit disappointed that it has been me, myself, and I at the last two meetups, although I have to admit, this last Friday evening meetup, it was so hot, I don't blame anyone for just wanting to go home and cool off. It truly was not a typical Oregon springlike day, and I know it caught me by surprise!

Since summertime may be a bit slow for folks wanting to consider a crafty outing, I am thinking that it would be a good time for me to explore some of the other crafty opportunities around town.

This last Sunday, I attended my first "Church of Craft" event, and met "Sister" Diane of CraftyPod podcast fame. I really had a good time talking with Diane and the other people I met, as well as making a brooch out of buttons for my messenger bag style purse. Diane tells me that when Church of Craft was at the coffee house, that they had as many as 70 people coming to the events. At the library, I think there were about a dozen of us. She said that attendance really dropped off after moving to the library.

I have two other events I would like to consider attending... one is a craft night at Gossamer (Tuesdays) something or other, and the other one is a craft night at a coffee shop (Thursdays). Look at www.diyalert.com if you would like information on these events. They are colored brown on the calendar.

So... I am going to go ahead and schedule a summertime meetup at my house...and if we want to schedule an east side meetup, I would like it if someone would like to offer up a location and time. Sunday afternoons have not worked out as well as I would have thought, and during the summer time I think it would be especially bad.

Have a great day,
Kay
