 Our member, Rose is a member of a group of soap and candle artists and they are having what looks like super fun event coming up on June. Saturday, June 7, 2008 Doubletree Paradise Valley Resort, Scottsdale 9 - 5 Come join us for a full day of activities at the 10th Annual Arizona Gathering of Soap and Candle Artisans on Saturday, June 7, 2008 at the Doubletree Paradise Valley Resort in Scottsdale! Dynamic speakers will give presentations on fragrance oils, Dead Sea mud, coconut wax and other natural wax candles, taxes, insurance, etc. Demonstrations and Hands-On Workshops (learn to make adorable cupcake bath fizzies, swirled glycerin soaps, design fantastic gel candles, blend essential oils, create beautiful gift baskets, and more) will take place throughout the day too. Exhibitors in the Market Place will have goodies and supplies for you to purchase and mini demos too! A delicious buffet lunch is also included. aren't those adorable?! It reminds me of our cupcake conversation at Art Unraveled a couple of years back Julie! I emailed Rose and she said she would be happy to do a teach of them for our group!!! Do I hear mid month monday Meetup!?

Thanks Denise for posting our Soap and Candle Gathering information!
We have a blast every year learning, sharing and networking with each other. Everyone's welcome to join us even if you've never made soap, toiletries or candles. This year we've made some changes and there will be more hands on demonstrations and workshops so you'll be able to make items like the cupcake fizzies and take them with you. As project pictures come in, I'll update the website (www.AzGathering.com) so you can see what we'll be making. I'll gladly show you how to make the cupcake fizzies after the gathering too! I'll need to find a night other than the mid month Monday's as it is the same night that we soapers get together in the East Valley...but I'd love to show you how *easy* these are to make and they really don't take very many ingredients either! I'll be at the second resin class and will bring one along for show and tell if you'd like to see them - my husband and 25yr old son thought they were real - they got all happy and thought that I had actually baked them treats! LOL - and oops! Thanks again for letting me share our Soap and Candle Gathering info with the group! If you have any questions - feel free to ask and I'll do my best to quickly answer. Oh - one thing that I'm *very* excited about is that we will have a demo on using natural waxes such as coconut, olive and even organic wax to make candles instead of the traditional paraffin! I am looking forward to meeting you, and hearing more about this event at the second Resin gathering. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone at the Resin class too! I'll bring samples of these cute bath fizzies - they don't look like something you should put in the bath tub! I'll also bring along other "samples" of stuff we'll make if you'd like. |
